Dino Melaye is one of the most popular Senators in the National Assembly

Image
Dino Melaye is one of the most popular Senators in the National Assembly. He is well known for his interesting captions on his Instagram profile and recently his saga with Sahara Reporters. However, he seems to be in a another problem, one that may or may not affect his job as a Senator. The people of Kogi West, which he represents sent a petition to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) asking for the recall of the senator. This recall is as a result of Senator Melaye’s ‘poor representation’ in the Senate. A recall referendum is a procedure by which voters can remove an elected official from office through a direct vote before their term has ended and according to the 1999 constitution of Nigeria, half of the registered voters in a constituency willing to recall its senator must sign a petition. Going by recent reports, this petition has been signed and the required percentage has been met and so, the Commission (INEC) has to go through a process of verification

We are often told that certain degrees are better than the other.

Scientific degrees are usually said to make more money and have better job opportunities. But unfortunately, this was not the case for 30-year-old Gladys Cheptoo who graduated with a second class upper division in Microbiology six years ago. She hoped that this would be her escape from an impoverished lifestyle. This degree was meant to empower her life. Unfortunately, six years later and Gladys Cheptoo is selling boiled eggs. In 2011, Gladys’s father passed on and left her with a big responsibility that she didn’t expect. Right now she has an ailing mother and 8 siblings that she has to fend for with the little money she gets. This has taken a toll on her life and literally robbed her the opportunity to do better. 1. Glady’s Cheptoo holding her degree For a while now, her Kalenjin community have made fun of her for being educated and still struggling like the illiterates from her home. There was a time she was almost married off to an old guy in due to desperate times but she ran aw

Who else is tired of being Nigerian?

Because, every day, Nigeria finds a way to disgrace us. We already know Nigeria is corrupt. Recently, the sum of 9 million dollars in cash was recovered from Andrew Yakubu, and every other day, EFCC manages to recover money from politicians to the tune of millions of dollars. And they’ll come and tell us there’s a recession and the dollar is expensive. While we were wondering when Buhari is going to come back and trying to keep up with all the crazy things happening in Nigeria, US news declared Nigeria as the most corrupt country in the world based on perception. Nigeria, the most populated country in Africa, is perceived to be the most corrupt among 60 countries evaluated, according to data from the 2016 Best Countries rankings. The rankings are a characterization of 60 countries based on a survey of more than 16,000 people from four regions. Well, we can’t say we didn’t see it coming or it’ not true. Hopefully, one day, Nigeria is recognised for something other than corruption or ba
