This is Sandra Musujusu.
She is a Sierra Leonean national schooling at the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja in Nigeria.
Sandra is currently on a mission to discover a cure for breast cancer.
Her research makes use of macromolecular science, aimed at developing biodegradable polymer material which could be used as an alternative for the treatment of breast cancer in the near future. This scientific breakthrough may lead to a lasting solution in the treatment of breast cancer, which according to research, is the most commonly diagnosed cancer.
Her research was announced when Dr Jaime Saavedra, World Bank Education Director visited the institution as part of his assessment tours.
Her research is sponsored by the Pan African Materials Institute (PAMI) and focuses on triple negative breast cancer which is the aggressive sub-type of breast cancer that is common with women from African ancestry.
